Job Title: Custodian

Status: Hourly Part Time

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSTION

Keep hospital in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, restrooms and pet play areas, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and maintaining cleanliness of the exterior including pulling weeds, and picking up the parking lot. Assist doctor, technicians, and kennel assistants with handling animals and general care when needed.

EMPLOYEE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Detail-oriented
  • General knowledge of pet animals and compassion for their care and well being
  • General custodial and maintenance knowledge of building and grounds
  • Flexible work schedule including weekends and holidays

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Know the range of services the practice provides and the species it treats
  • Be reasonably familiar with breeds and coat colors
  • Be familiar with zoonotic (contagious) diseases, including their prevention and steps to reduce or eliminate transmission
  • Competently speak and write the English language
  • Reasonably familiar with feeding, watering, and medicating animals

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Have the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift when needed
  • Ability to lift pets and objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
  • Ability to assist in lifting patients weighing more than 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform manual labor including cleaning, lawn care and general building maintenance
